199 PARK CENTER PLAZA

Asset Class: Office Role: General Partner, Developer & Manager Built: 1973 Status: Sold 1985
The building was a low-rise structure designed by architect César Pelli and was completed in 1973. It was a sophisticated regional example of the Brutalist style, characterized by its angular geometric masses, smooth concrete surfaces, and abstract sculptural form. The structure's design prominently featured voids and folded planes. Although it was recognized as architecturally significant, and worthy of historic landmark status, it was ultimately demolished to allow for the development of a large, modern, 3.6 million square foot commercial campus. The building housed the Bank of California and the County Family Court.
